Purchase of model .stl files from our site www.scale3drc.com will receive files for complete kit. Purchase of these same items on shapeways.com (if available) is done as Body & Box or Just Body while accessories would be a separate purchase on shapeways.com. The Pros of having the models printed at shapeways.com is that their equipment uses grains of plastic rather than filament and it is melted with a laser to create each layer and adhere it to the previous. It is then lowered to the next layer depth and another layer of the grains applied. In this way the entire model is supported by the volume of plastic surrounding it allowing for much finer details as well as printing the entire Cabin or Bed in their entirety without needing to be assembled when received. Hood is included with Cabin but user will need to determine best means of mounting hood to shell when purchased at shapeways.com or from our site. Is it more expensive at Shapeways? Yes! Far more expensive! Which is why we offer Cab with bed or just Cab on shapeways.com The end result using shapeways.com is much less work and finer detail that will be more difficult to replicate with a home based printer with less body work.
Disclaimer:
All models on our website www.scale3drc.com have been designed to be printed in sections on a printer with a hotbed of 200mm Wide X 200mm Deep X 180mm High or larger. As such when the file is unzipped you will find a list of print files and each of them will need to be printed to complete the model. If you have a larger format printer it may be possible to load multiple files and orient together and print all at once. The files have been oriented to take advantage of a smaller print area for a lower entry point into 3D printing for those that wish to get started.
See available models on https://www.shapeways.com/shops/scale-3d-rc where the models can be printed for you in as large a format as possible dependent on the shape of their available equipment. Want a model made available on shapeways.com, contact us at webrequest@scale3drc.com, we will do the extra work to make it happen with enough requests.
User will need to determine the best mean by which they will mount the end product to the chassis of choice as all models have been designed with no predetermined mounting systems provided but may be suggested by included lugs on some models. Frame standoffs to lower body panels are likely a good start to consider. Models have been at the very least loaded into slicer software and sliced to confirm printable within the 200 X 200 X 180 area.
Scale 3D RC provides no warranty expressed or implied on purchased .stl files. Not all model files may work with all available RC chassis on the market. As models are not being designed to real world chassis dimensions results will vary.
Replacement files will be provided with proof of purchase by contacting webrequest@scale3drc.com. Results will also vary depending on user, printer, filament as well as ambient temperature at time of print. Scale 3D RC does not provide purchase returns as all sales are final.
